Who We Are:
The Springfield City School District, home to The John Legend Theatre, is a nationally ranked Division I district serving approximately 7,500 students from Pre‑K through grade 12 in a community of 17 state‑of‑the‑art buildings. Responsibilities and Qualifications
As a Teacher you are required to:
K‑12 Art licensure issued by the Ohio Department of Education
Be flexible in your work schedule and attend professional development sessions when required
Serve on district teams as needed
Relate to and teach students from diverse backgrounds
Demonstrate enthusiasm for the role
As a Teacher you will:
Effectively differentiate instruction for a student‑centered classroom
Analyze data to plan instruction aligned to the Fine Arts Model Curriculum
Design engaging lessons and assessments that meet the needs of all students
Use research‑based pedagogy and demonstrate strong background knowledge of Art
Collaborate with teams to ensure student success
Establish a classroom community built on rituals and routines that promotes structure and success for all students
Provide individualized and small‑group instruction to meet each student’s needs
Employ multiple instructional approaches for diverse learners
Engage in active, hands‑on, innovative methods to develop student skills
Identify and build on student strengths
Support district programming in academic, behavioral, and emotional domains
Facilitate ongoing assessments to gauge progress and adjust instruction
Grade and assess student work, maintain class records, and report grades and progress at term’s end
Provide instruction to students of varying capabilities with SEL support
Assist in developing responsible behaviors and a positive work ethic
Participate in collaborative planning and support district‑level programs
Communicate with parents and caregivers regarding classroom issues
Maintain a professional demeanor and exemplify responsible leadership for students
Manage situations positively and professionally
Perform other duties as assigned
What We Offer
As a contracted employee, teachers work 183 days per year with 7.25 hours per day. Starting salary aligns with the negotiated agreement and increases with experience and education. Contracted employees receive competitive benefits, and all employees receive professional development.
