Amazon Data Services, Inc. is part of Amazon Web Services (AWS) Infrastructure Services, which owns the design, planning, delivery, and operation of all AWS global infrastructure. AWS seeks Data Center Technicians to support customers in multiple locations. The role reports to a site location and helps ensure overall availability and reliability to meet or exceed defined service levels of data center operations. The position may involve participation in a primary responder rotation, monitoring the data center infrastructure, coordinating response to operational incidents, and partnering with other teams to resolve issues that impact service availability.

Key job responsibilities

Perform server rack installations, hardware break-fix on various components, troubleshoot network issues, and respond to operational incidents that impact service availability, escalating to senior technicians and management as needed.

Serve as a primary contact point for internal and external stakeholders, including engineers, software developers, vendors, and contractors.

Participate in on‑call duties and scheduled maintenance and change management activities.

Contribute to documentation and process improvement initiatives based on analysis of operational issues.

Help train and onboard new team members.

All candidates should be willing to work both independently and with a team. Work prioritization, organizational skills, effective communication, and the ability to react quickly are critical to success. In addition to hardware and network repair, candidates will install equipment, create documentation, innovate solutions, and fix problems within the data center space. The team operates 24/7, and morning, evening, weekend, holiday, and/or night work may be required to ensure global data centers operate at the highest levels of reliability.

Physical requirements

Regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds; and participate in group lifts for 41+ pounds.

Work in an environment that operates 24/7 with an ability to participate in a primary responder rotation and provide after‑hours support as needed.

Work in cramped, elevated, and/or noisy environments.

Bending, lifting, stretching, reaching, standing and walking for up to 8+ hours a day.

Ascend and descend ladders, stairs, and gangways safely and without limitation.

Basic Qualifications

1+ years of computer hardware troubleshooting and repair experience.

1+ years of computer networking experience.

High school or equivalent diploma.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience dealing effectively with customers during problem resolution and operating efficiently under pressure.

Starting pay for this position is listed below. Final starting pay will be based on factors including experience, qualifications, and location.
