Summary
The Assistant Manager – Procurement Planning is responsible for strengthening logistics procurement processes across the Americas region, ensuring the timely, cost‑effective acquisition of logistics products and services while upholding quality standards and organizational requirements. This role supports the development and execution of regional procurement strategies through market and data analysis, supplier negotiations, and competitive bid processes. The position also contributes to procurement training, performance management, and the ongoing development of strategic supplier relationships.

Responsibilities

Logistic Procurement Planning and Supplier Management

Design strategic plans for logistics procurement to obtain a competitive advantage.

Develop strategies of logistics procurement to support current and new logistics business.

Develop tools for analyzing supplier's quotes.

Survey and find prospective logistics services suppliers with a competitive advantage.

Develop logistics service suppliers' evaluation and customize the evaluation criteria for each logistics business.

Review the logistics service suppliers' evaluation outcomes and report them to the manager.

Identify improvements regarding evaluation criteria and update them regularly.

Manage and improve the GPMS (Glovis Procurement Management System).

Proactively build up and deliver solutions against logistic and procurement problems and issues.

Capable of managing RFx processes with minor support.

Procurement Process Optimization

Development and update of standard operating procedures (SOP) for logistic procurement.

Continuous improvement and cost reduction initiatives for logistics and procurement procedures.

Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams and subsidiaries in the Americas region.

Design and implement strategies for efficient procurement activities.

Survey, benchmark, and report new trends in logistics procurement and supply chain.

Regional Procurement Status Management

Compile and aggregate logistics service contract schedules of each GLOVIS Americas subsidiary.

Manage and analyze the logistics contract rates of each subsidiary regularly.

Report the regional procurement status of each subsidiary to the appropriate manager regularly.

Report the results of market and supplier research.

Build up strategies for improving supplier management for GLOVIS Americas and all subsidiaries.

Collaborate with HQ and work in cooperation with logistics procurement projects.

Perform planned procurement audits with the manager to maintain compliance with each subsidiary.

Market Analysis: Conduct research and analysis of market trends, supplier capabilities, and industry best practices to inform procurement decisions.

Compliance: Ensure compliance with relevant regulations, policies, and procedures governing procurement activities.

Data Analysis and Reporting: Generate reports and analyze procurement data to provide insights, monitor performance, and support decision‑making.

Cross‑functional Collaboration: Collaborate with internal stakeholders, including operations, finance, legal, and logistics teams.

Compensation Range
$86,000 – $96,000 per year (Subject to Compensation Study Upon Candidate Selection)

Skills & Qualifications

In‑depth knowledge of the transportation and logistics industry in North America preferred.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.

Strong negotiations, procurement, and conflict resolution skills required.

Proficient PC skills – Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, database management systems required.

Critical thinking, planning, strategy, problem‑solving, and organizational skills required.

Detail‑oriented with strong organizational and time‑management skills required.

Understanding of sourcing and procurement methodologies: including spend analysis, supplier screening, benchmarking, clean-sheet costing, negotiations, supplier performance management, scorecards, contracting, and cost-saving required.

Ability to manage multiple priorities and to adjust to meet business needs, project management, and preparing executive summary reports required.

Individual must be a self-starter with ability to work with limited direction, initiator, and capability to provide solutions required.

Spanish or Portuguese bilingual preferred.

Education & Experience

Bachelor's Degree Required

Master's Degree Preferred

6 - 9 Years of Direct Experience in Logistics, Transportation, Procurement, and/or Supply Chain Management Required

7 - 11 Years of Direct Experience Preferred

Logistic Procurement and/or Transportation Procurement Experience Preferred

CPSM, CPIM, CPL, PMI, Six Sigma Preferred

1 - 3 Years of Supervisory Experience Required
