Position Summary
The Talent Acquisition Specialist coordinates the hiring process for staff and non‑faculty volunteer positions, following established procedures and timelines. This position works closely with hiring managers to post requisitions, screen resumes for required skills and experience, while providing guidance on recruitment best practices. Responsibilities are performed in accordance with federal, state, and university policies to ensure compliance.
Qualifications
Required
Education in Human Resources, Business Administration or related field.
1 year of experience in Human Resources, including internship, practicum and/or student employment experience in a closely related field.
Valid motor vehicle license.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Microsoft Outlook.
Ability to adapt and embrace change to meet the dynamic needs of the organization.
Ability to continuously learn and pursue self‑development through personal study, training and education.
Ability to handle multiple priorities with strong attention to detail.
Ability to maintain high levels of confidentiality.
Strong technical/troubleshooting skills and ability to apply critical thinking skills to help solve problems and/or find alternative solutions.
Ability to take initiative to complete tasks in a timely manner. A strong sense of urgency and ownership is required.
Effective customer service, organizational, interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills (written and verbal).
Understanding HR functions, processes, procedures, including inter‑dependencies.
Proven relationship building skills.
Public contact position requiring appropriate business‑like apparel.
Regular attendance and timeliness is essential – Work schedule 8:00 am to 5:00 pm. Ability to commit whatever time or effort is required to ensure customer/managers and employees needs are met.
Preferred
Experience with emphasis in Talent Acquisition and/or Staffing.
Prior experience in higher education or similar organization.
Familiarity with employment compliance requirements.
Applicable knowledge of ATS systems and technical expertise.
Certification as a Professional in Human Resources (PHR).
Knowledge of recruitment and hiring processes, including job postings, resume review, interview coordination, and onboarding activities.
Ability to learn and apply policies, procedures, and system tools related to staffing and employment.
Ability to provide responsive support to applicants and hiring managers.
Ability to identify process gaps or inefficiencies and communicate improvement ideas appropriately.
