Job Description
You will determine donor eligibility to donate plasma, manage donor adverse events, review laboratory test results, and notify donors of unsuitable results. The Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reports to the Plasma Center Manager and operates under the guidance of the Center Physician for medical issues.

The role includes supporting plasma center operations and ensuring compliance with plasma collection regulations and EHS guidelines.

Responsibilities

Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review of serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).

Evaluate donor reactions as outlined in SOPs and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including development of Center Physician's standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care.

Refer to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for unacceptable findings or medical/technical guidance.

Support hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.

Manage employee incidents and determine if further evaluation is required by occupational health/ER, following EHS guidance.

Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of pandemic threats in the local community.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent, including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements.

Current nursing license or certification in the state of assignment (LPN or LVN).

Current CPR and AED certification.

Fulfillment of state requirements for basic IV therapy.

Completion of FDA approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.

Minimum two years in a clinical or hospital setting.

Compensation
Hourly wage range: $24.32 - $33.44 depending on qualifications.
