Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reporting to the Plasma Center Manager, responsible for the day‑to‑day operations of our plasma collection center.
Determine donor eligibility by conducting informed consent, recording medical history, performing physical examinations, and coordinating blood testing and serological protein electrophoresis (SPE).
Manage donor adverse events and review laboratory test results to notify donors of unsuitable findings.
Implement emergency SOPs, including the development of physician standing orders and arranging transport to emergency care facilities.
Consult with the Center Physician or Medical Affairs on medical or technical issues, including donor safety and eligibility.
Support the Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees.
Handle employee incidents, determine need for further evaluation by occupational health/ER, and follow EHS guidance.
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations of community pandemic threats.
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; or completion of a recognized nursing program with state licensure.
Current LPN or LVN license in the state where responsibilities are assigned.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Meet state requirements for basic IV therapy.
Successfully complete FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
At least two years of experience in a clinical or hospital setting.
Compensation and Benefits
U.S. hourly wage range:
$25.60 – $35.20
per hour. Actual wage may vary based on qualifications, experience, and location. Eligible for short‑term incentives and a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401(k) with company match, disability coverage, life insurance, tuition reimbursement, paid volunteer time off, holidays, well‑being benefits, up to 80 hours of sick time per year, and up to 120 hours of paid vacation for new hires.
