The attorney will represent employers and insurance carriers in workers compensation claims, defend hearings and appeals, manage caseloads from intake through resolution, and provide clear, strategic counsel to clients. The role emphasizes strong litigation skills, effective communication, and disciplined organization to achieve timely, cost-effective outcomes.Key ResponsibilitiesRepresent employers and carriers at administrative hearings, depositions, mediations, and trials in workers compensation
and file pleadings, motions, briefs, and other court and administrative documents with precision and timeliness.Conduct legal research and analyze statutes, case law, and administrative rules relevant to workers compensation claims.Take and defend depositions of claimants, witnesses, and experts; prepare witness outlines and exhibits.Negotiate settlements and structured resolutions with claimants, plaintiff counsel, and adjusters to minimize exposure and litigation costs.Manage a high-volume caseload, maintain calendars and deadlines, and ensure timely client communication and case
clients on claim strategy, exposure assessment, and risk management; coordinate with claims adjusters and third-party
clear, persuasive legal correspondence, status reports, and closing memos; maintain accurate file records and billing entries.Prepare for and participate in appeals, including drafting appellate briefs and handling appellate procedures when necessary. QualificationsJuris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school and active membership in the state bar where the attorney will practice.Minimum of 1 years of litigation experience, with demonstrated workers compensation defense experience preferred.Proven skills in taking and defending depositions and conducting trial-level advocacy in administrative forums.Strong legal writing and brief-drafting abilities, with attention to persuasive, organized legal documents.Excellent verbal and written communication skills for client counseling, negotiations, and courtroom advocacy.Demonstrated negotiation skills and experience resolving claims through settlement or alternative dispute resolution.Highly organized with strong case management skills and the ability to prioritize competing deadlines and heavy caseloads.Familiarity with workers compensation statutes, administrative rules, evidentiary standards, and litigation procedures.Proficiency with case management software, e-billing platforms, and standard office technology; willingness to learn firm systems.Preferred: bilingual proficiency, prior experience working with insurance carriers, and certification or continuing education in workers compensation law.
