Job Description
Position: Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) – responsible for supporting plasma collection center operations in Harker Heights, TX. The role involves donor eligibility assessment, medical event management, and coordination with medical and safety teams.
What you’ll do
Determine donor eligibility, including informed consent, AIDS education, confidential self‑exclusion, medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and reviewing Serological Protein Electrophoresis (SPE).
Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, development of Center Physician standing orders, and donor transport to emergency care facilities.
Refer unacceptable findings or medical/technical concerns to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance concerning donor safety and eligibility.
Support Hepatitis B and Seasonal Flu vaccination programs for employees.
Manage employee incidents, determine further evaluation requirements, and reference EHS guidance for incident handling.
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized by EHS, supporting investigations related to pandemic threats within the local community.
What you bring to Takeda
High school diploma or equivalent, or graduate‑level nursing program completion meeting state requirements.
Current EMT‑Paramedic license or certification in the state where responsibilities are assigned.
Current CPR and AED certification.
Basic IV therapy certification meeting state requirements.
Completion of FDA‑approved training for BioLife Medical Support Specialist.
Two (2) years of clinical or hospital experience.
Benefits & Compensation
Hourly Wage Range: $24.32 – $33.44 (dependent on qualifications, experience, and location).
