CNC Machinist
This role focuses on operating mills and lathes in a climate-controlled job shop environment to produce high-quality parts. You will set up, run, and tear down machines, interpret blueprints and engineering drawings, and perform precise quality checks using measurement tools. The position requires strong mechanical aptitude, attention to detail, and the ability to work safely with hand and power tools while handling moderately heavy materials.
Responsibilities
Operate mills and lathes to produce parts according to specifications and production requirements.
Perform machine setups, including changeovers and tear downs, to support different jobs and part runs.
Interpret blueprints and engineering drawings to determine machining requirements, dimensions, and tolerances.
Load and unload machines with raw materials and finished parts in a safe and efficient manner.
Use micrometers, calipers, and other precision measurement tools to perform quality checks and verify part dimensions.
Apply GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) principles when inspecting and verifying parts.
Utilize hand and power tools to support machining, finishing, and general shop tasks.
Operate additional shop equipment such as drill presses and shears as needed.
Troubleshoot basic machine issues and make adjustments to maintain part quality and machine performance.
Maintain a clean and organized work area and follow all safety procedures.
Lift and move materials and parts weighing up to 75 pounds as required for production.
Essential Skills
Proven experience in machine operating, specifically with mills and lathes.
Ability to interpret blueprints and engineering drawings accurately.
Mechanical aptitude and hands-on mechanical skills in a machining environment.
Proficiency in using micrometers, calipers, and other precision measuring instruments.
Experience with machine setups, changeovers, and tear downs.
Knowledge of machining processes and machine operation, including CNC machining concepts.
Ability to operate drill presses, shears, and related mechanical equipment.
Understanding and practical use of GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) in inspection and machining.
Capability to lift up to 75 pounds safely and repeatedly.
Strong troubleshooting skills for basic machine and process issues.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
Previous experience in a job shop environment.
Comfort using a variety of hand and power tools in a production setting.
Attention to detail and commitment to producing high-quality work.

Work Environment
This position is based in a climate-controlled job shop environment designed for comfort and consistent working conditions. Typical hours are 6:30 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 6:30 a.m. to 10:00 a.m. on Friday, providing a structured daytime schedule with an early start to the weekend. You will work around mills, lathes, drill presses, shears, and other machining equipment, using both hand and power tools on a regular basis. The environment emphasizes safety, cleanliness, and efficient workflow while supporting precision machining and quality production.
