Job Summary
The Technical Support Specialist is responsible for providing desktop, printer, and peripheral assistance and support to UT Southwestern faculty and staff regarding personal computing hardware and software, computer networking, and telecommunications. The role ensures the desktop environment complies with UT Southwestern Information Security requirements. This is a primary customer-facing role within the clinical environment.

Primary hours are 8:00 am – 5:00 pm Monday – Friday, with rotating holiday and inclement weather coverage required. Flexibility to work outside normal shifts is necessary. ServiceNow experience is desired.

Education & Experience

High school diploma or equivalent

At least 2 years of related experience. Additional coursework in a related field such as computer science or management information systems may be considered as a replacement on a year‑for‑year basis.

Preferred Education

Associate’s degree in a related field

Bachelor’s degree in a related field

Licenses & Certifications

If the area of employment requires the use of a University‑owned vehicle, the employee must possess a valid Texas driver’s license, pass a motor vehicle records (MVR) check, and complete driver training (or van training, if applicable) in accordance with UTS Policy 157, appendix B upon hire.

Job Duties

Support the full end‑user computing experience, including computer hardware/software, printers, copiers, scanners, audio‑visual equipment, and mobile devices.

Diagnose and repair routine end‑user problems independently or by escalating to senior technical staff or other teams.

Perform preventative maintenance of end‑user devices and associated peripherals.

Manage the lifecycle of end‑user devices, including deployment and decommissioning of assets.

After‑hours staff will work the Service Desk role as needed.

Perform other duties as assigned.
