
Electrical Mechanical Technician (1st Shift)

JOB SUMMARY
The Mechanic / Electrician classification is responsible for the maintenance and repair of various pre‑press, sheeting, printing, and finishing manufacturing equipment at an acceptable speed and efficiency while maintaining the highest standards of safety. General and building maintenance duties are also assigned to this position. This is achieved through strong knowledge of electro‑mechanics, PLCs, the ability to troubleshoot equipment problems, and adherence to all safety requirements and rules.

Various pneumatic repairs
Training in general mechanics, electrical, plumbing, lubrication storage and handling, book parts reading, electrical diagram reading, and all equipment mechanics, electrical and lubrication procedures
Ability to perform maintenance activities with a variety of equipment, including drills, hammers, drill press, floor base, grinder, hydraulic lift, parts washer (40 gal), manual riveter, sander, belt/disc, saws (circular, horizontal band, jig, miter, reciprocating, vertical bend), shop press (20 ton), welders (arc and wire feed), multimeter, calipers, and hydraulic jack
Prior to release for production, all tools, equipment, and hardware are accounted for
Support continuous improvement initiatives through participation
Other duties as assigned
BACKGROUND / EXPERIENCE
3–5 years of maintenance & electrical repair, PLC fault diagnostics, and mechanical maintenance in a light manufacturing environment
Excellent attendance, ability to work independently, and ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily
SKILLS
Language skills – ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, procedure manuals, write routine reports, and communicate effectively; bilingual English/Spanish is a plus
Mathematical skills – ability to add, subtract, multiply, divide in all units of measure, compute rates, ratios, percent, and interpret bar graphs
Reasoning ability – ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables where limited standardization exists; ability to interpret written, oral, diagram, or schedule instructions

Certificates, licenses, registrations – company‑issued Fork Truck Operator’s License, Clamp Truck Operator’s License, NFPA‑70E
EDUCATION / KNOWLEDGE
High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Schedule requirements: 8‑hour shifts (M–F), 3rd shift (Sun–Th); employees may be required to work overtime up to 12‑hour shifts, including weekends; flexibility for alternate schedules and overtime is required
Physical requirements:
Lifting up to 20 lbs. frequently (11–33% of time); lifting 21–60 lbs. occasionally (1–10%)
Use of both feet and hands frequently; right‑ and left‑hand coordination
Ability to stand, climb, walk, kneel, crouch frequently (34–66% of time); bend, squat, reach above shoulder or waist; twist, stretch; push/pull with force up to 45 lbs.; carry, grasp with force up to 90 lbs.; finger occasionally
Ability to read, write, hear, see, speak, and have agility continuously
Rarely laying on back for preventative or breakdown maintenance to perform mechanical and electrical services
Pushing horizontally occasionally with force of 35 lbs. indoors on smooth/inclined surface for fabrication of requested items
Reading computer screen or other electronic devices
Use of various hand and electrical tools and equipment
Work in areas of fluctuating temperature and loud noise
PPE required: steel‑toed/safety footwear, safety glasses, hearing protection, cut‑resistant safety gloves, hair net, beard net
