Description of Job
The Division of Professions and Occupations (DPO) protects consumers through licensing and regulatory enforcement for over 50 professions. The Office of Licensing processes approximately 48,000 licensing applications annually, provides customer support, and offers recommendations on licensing requirements.
Position
SJA 973 – Application Processing Specialist. Responsibilities include reviewing, evaluating, and processing licensing applications for various professional boards; providing customer service to applicants, staff, and external users; updating system records; generating correspondence; and participating in cross‑training.
Duties Include
Review and enter data in the licensing system to update application status.
Generate correspondence and update system notes.
Generate rosters and submit to testing companies.
Respond to inquiries from applicants, boards, testing companies, and other stakeholders.
Assist applicants with required documentation and provide technical assistance.
Participate in staff training (both giving and receiving).
Minimum Qualifications
Option 1 – Experience: Three (3) years of office experience including:
Document analysis for completeness and compliance.
Data compilation and analysis.
High‑volume customer service, managing calls and emails.
Adherence to policies, procedures, deadlines.
PC software proficiency (Microsoft Office, Google Suite).
Option 2 – Education and Experience: Associate’s degree in business/related field and one (1) year of full‑time office experience covering the items above; or equivalent coursework replacing experience on a year‑for‑year basis up to three years.
Preferred Qualifications
Experience in state government/regulatory agency.
Customer service in high‑volume settings.

Knowledge of licensure policies and statutes.
