The 2011 MTV Video Music Awards (VMAs) took place this past Saturday, and with a pregnancy announcement from Beyoncé Knowles, Lady Gaga appearing (and performing) as a man and dozens of other major celebrity appearances, there was certainly a lot to talk about.
Impressively, Twitter completely dominated the social space chatter during the VMAs, accounting for over 98% of some 5,567,954 total mentions during the awards.
48% of all social mentions came via mobile handsets, and Twitter.com (22.9%) and TweetDeck (13.9%) also had very strong showings.
