WaPo Screws Up Hitchens Obit

Now this is embarrassing.

WaPo published its obituary for Christopher Hitchens early this morning, but left out a few vital details when someone hit publish. Instead of telling readers where and why Hitchens died, they left in the filler text, “cause, place of death.”

J-School Buzz, a student-run blog about the Missouri School of Journalism, published a screenshot of the obituary snafu on their website at 12:15 a.m. Their headline: “How Not to Write an Obituary, Courtesy of The Washington Post.” Blog Founder and Publisher David Teeghman wrote the story.
