Politico founder and executive editor Jim VandeHei today announced a slew of hirings and promotions among the Politico staff. New staffers include former Newsweek and Washington Post writers, as well as two former Politico interns. The political news site is also seeking to beef up its coverage of health care policy.

Women Might Decide Whether Wall Street Journal's New York Section Wins Over The Times (Business Insider)
As The Wall Street Journal prepares to unveil its New York edition on April 26, both publications are likely mulling over a key stat: The Journal's daily readership is 62.3% men and 37.7% women. Meanwhile, the Times' male to female ratio is essentially split straight down the middle, with 51.1% men and 48.9% women. The Journal argues that its female audience has been increasing during the past couple of years -- and they are richer and more likely to be employed than Times readers.

CBS Wants To Take On The View (NY Post)
CBS President Les Moonves' wife, Julie Chen, could soon be the face of a new daytime panel chat show for mothers. Chen and Roseanne star Sara Gilbert are preparing to shoot a pilot in early May for the network for a show to rival ABC's The View. Other possible panelists linked to the project are Lisa Rinna and Bethenny Frankel. A CBS source said, "It's a daytime panel show to take on The View, targeted at women with children and hosted by celebrities, journalists and regular moms."
