The Definition of PR Has Been Revealed

After more than 900 suggestions, much deliberation, and lots of voting, the winning definition of the PR Defined campaign has been announced. And it is:

Public relations is a strategic communication process that builds mutually beneficial relationships between organizations and their publics.

In The New York Times article about the decision, the PRSA’s chairman and chief exec, Gerard Corbett called the campaign the “beginning of an ongoing, sustained discussion about what it is the public relations industry does.”
