Doonesbury Tweaks ‘NBC Nightly News,’ NBC’s Corporate Synergy

In Sunday’s Doonesbury, Garry Trudeau tweaked “NBC Nightly News” with Brian Williams and NBC more generally. The target of his pen: the tendency for NBC to cross-promote its platforms by having CNBC anchors on “Today,” and directing viewers to MSNBC.com, etc.

Of course, Trudeau’s critique could also apply to just about any of the other news programs, but with two cable news channels, NBC has a few extra platforms for self-promotion.

Trudeau also happens to be married to Jane Pauley, who spent 25 years with NBC News on “Today” and “Dateline.”
