At Another School Shooting, Duplicate Affiliate Coverage on Cable

As the cable news networks pivoted to coverage of another school shooting, this time at Lone Star College in Houston, something you don’t see very often happened: MSNBC and CNN broadcast an interview with the same witness at the same time.

The interview was happening live on Houston’s KPRC, which is an NBC affiliate that also partners with CNN.

Three people were injured in the shooting. One suspect is in custody and police are searching for a second suspect. Fox News was the first of the three cable news networks to report the shooting, at 1:52pmET. CNN was next at 1:53pm, followed by MSNBC at 1:55pm. TVSpy has more on the local news coverage.
