‘NBC Nightly News’ Gets a Studio Refresh

If you watched “NBC Nightly News with Brian Williams” tonight, you may have noticed a few changes to the broadcast. “‘Nightly’ is making a few updates within Studio 3B to better take advantage of our space and graphics capabilities,” an NBC News spokesperson tells TVNewser. Among the changes, the show open and story introductions make use of studio monitors — and wider camera shots —  rather than over-the-shoulder graphics.

This is the first update since “Nightly” moved into Studio 3B in 2011. The studio was built at the time to house both “Nightly News” and “Rock Center, ” which was canceled last summer. We’re told the show will be experimenting with other camera angles and styles over the coming weeks. The “Nightly” updates come during the same week that ABC’s “World News Tonight” gets a new anchor in David Muir.
