Newsmax TV Signs Deal With DirecTV, Launching Next Month

NewsmaxTVNewsmax has found a TV home, signing a deal with DirecTV for a soft-launch next month. Newsmax Media CEO Christopher Ruddy
says the channel, which streams online from headquarters in Florida and studios in New York, Washington, DC, and Los Angeles, will be “independent news with a mainstream conservative tilt.”

“Cable TV news has become too polarizing and too much into political messaging,” Ruddy tells TVNewser. “We are independent of a political party and not owned by any major media conglomerate. Admittedly, we offer a conservative perspective on things but without the sting!”

At the outset, Newsmax TV will air nine hours of original programming a day.

Ruddy adds, “I think it’s a testament to our openness that at Newsmax.com Bill Clinton has interviewed with us three times and Alan Dershowitz makes his homepage on our website.”

Earlier this year, Ruddy talked with CNN’s Brian Stelter about one cable news network in particular, suggesting that Newsmax’s built-in five million email subscribers is “bigger than the core audience of Fox News.”
