Cathryn Drake


Professional Experience

A freelance writer, editor, and curator, Cathryn has published articles in Artforum, Frieze, Artnet, Men’s Vogue, Time, and Wall Street Journal, among other periodicals. Formerly copy chief of the design magazine Metropolis, she has had more than 20 years of experience editing publications for clients including Yale University, Museum of Modern Art, Economist Intelligence Unit, John Wiley & Sons, Abbeville Press, Phaidon, Rizzoli, Kunsthalle Münster, and the Flemish Art Association. In 2018 she curated the major exhibition "The Presence of Absence, or the Catastrophe Theory," at NiMAC, in Nicosia, Cyprus, following on its 2016 premiere at Izolyatsia, in Kiev, Ukraine. She has been publicity director of the Ann Arbor Film Festival and production manager for two feature film shoots in New York City. She also worked as a legislative assistant to U.S. Congressman Timothy Wirth, in Washington, D.C., and a research editor at the Center for Political Studies, Institute for Social Research, University of Michigan.
