Job Description
Medical Support Specialist (Plasma Center Nurse) reporting to the Plasma Center Manager. Responsible for determining donor eligibility, managing donor adverse events, reviewing laboratory test results, and notifying donors of unsuitable test results. Performs donor evaluations, manages medical emergencies per SOP, and coordinates with Center Physician and Medical Affairs. Supports vaccination programs, handles employee incidents, and may serve as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized.
Responsibilities
Determine donor eligibility and manage informed consent, education, and confidential self‑exclusion
Conduct medical history interview, physical examination, blood testing, and review serological tests
Evaluate donor reactions, manage medical emergencies following SOPs, and facilitate transport to emergency care
Refer to Center Physician or Medical Affairs for medical and technical issues
Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs for employees
Manage employee incidents and coordinate with occupational health, EHS, or medical affairs
Act as Pandemic Coordinator when authorized and support related investigations
Qualifications
High school diploma or equivalent; graduate-level nursing program with state requirements
Current state license or certification: LPN or LVN
Current CPR and AED certification
Completion of state IV therapy requirements
Completion of FDA‑approved BioLife Medical Support Specialist training
Two years of clinical or hospital experience
