Job Summary
The Sous Chef at SCAD Atlanta supports the overall success of the culinary operation by providing daily kitchen leadership and executing the food program. This role is responsible for menu support, food preparation, inventory, and cost control while ensuring compliance with health regulations, company standards, and client expectations. The Sous Chef also plays a key role in training and leading back‑of‑house associates to deliver high‑quality, consistent food service.
Essential Duties And Responsibilities
Assist with daily food preparation and cooking across multiple menu items
Support menu planning and development
Help implement new culinary programs in collaboration with culinary and marketing teams
Assist with ordering, inventory management, and cost control
Ensure food quality, freshness, presentation, and sanitation standards are met
Train, motivate, and supervise back‑of‑house team members
Perform additional duties as assigned
Qualifications
Minimum of 5 years of culinary experience, including at least 1 year in a supervisory or lead role
Experience in restaurant, hotel, corporate dining, education, healthcare, military, or similar food service environments
Strong knowledge of food trends, production, sanitation, safety, and cost controls
Ability to create and manage production sheetsProven leadership, coaching, and training skills
ServSafe or Department of Health certification preferred
Basic computer skills, including Excel and other MS Office tools
Associate’s degree in Culinary Arts preferred
