Follow #NBARapidReplay For In-Stream Video Highlights During The Playoffs

The 2013 NBA Playoffs are in full swing, and Twitter is capitalizing on one of the most-watched sporting events of the year by teaming up with NBA Digital to stream replays of in-game highlights.

On the heels of an amped-up partnership with ESPN, Twitter is giving basketball fans serious justification for watching the playoffs with a second screen.

NBA Digital, which is a joint venture between the NBA and Turner Broadcasting System Inc., will post game snippets on Twitter throughout the rest of the playoffs with the hashtag #NBARapidReplay.

Unimpressed? The reason the partnership is cool: basketball fans will get those video highlights while the game is still ongoing.

A few examples:

 

As with all of Twitter’s team-ups with TV, the replay videos will appear with marketing messages (=ad dollars) for Sony, Yum! Brands and Sprint.

The NBA is a cash cow for Twitter: its Twitter account has more than 7 million followers, and there are about 120 million fans of players and teams on Twitter.
