It’s Black Friday, and around the U.S. shoppers are, inevitably, going crazy over bargains.
But which products are they most excited about, and where, and who’s driving the conversation?
Lady Gaga has been ousted by both Justin Bieber and Twitter’s current top account Katy Perry.
That said, her 40.5 million Twitter followers are nothing to sniff at – especially because it turns out, according to data from Statista, that Lady Gaga was the most-followed Twitter user for two and a half years.
Check out Statista’s timeline below of the most followed Twitter users since Ashton Kutcher hit the 1 million mark in April 2009.
Yesterday we presented a visual that noted how the U.S. ranked only 8th in Twitter penetration by population, well behind first-placed Saudi Arabia.
However, there are far more internet users (and people) in the States than there are in the KSA, and the USA is comfortably Twitter’s most important region in terms of total number of active tweeters.

Twitter’s widely-anticipated IPO is just around the corner, and, for many analysts, it would seem to make sense to speculate on Twitter’s fortunes based on what has happened to Facebook (and, to a lesser extent, LinkedIn), and their IPO, given that Twitter and Facebook are, you know, kind of the same.

Did you know that there are now more than 230 million active users of Twitter worldwide, and that 100 million of them log into the service at least once per day?
What if I told you that 5,700 tweets are sent each and every second, 70 percent of Twitter’s ad revenue comes from mobile devices and that, despite this, the company has yet to turn a profit?
In its latest IPO filing Twitter revealed that it now has 230 million monthly active users (MAUs) through September 2013, up from 218 million at the end of June 2013.
This represents a gain of 12 million MAUs, or 5.5 percent. This is down from quarter-on-quarter MAU growth of more than 10 percent in Q3 and Q4 2012, and Q1 2013.
As we get closer to the IPO, this slowdown is a serious problem for Twitter.
