Times Jumps on the Job Cut Bandwagon

This is the week the music stopped for anyone still harboring dreams of finding a seat at the one of the country's premier newspapers. After much trimming around its edges, The New York Times announced it would eliminate approximately 100 of its 1,332 newsroom employees by attrition, buyouts, and quite possibly layoffs. Unless you're already a reporting rock star, don't plan on sending your resume anytime soon. The news is even worse at Tribune's newspapers, where the mad old man in charge, Sam Zell, announced he was laying off 400-500 employees across the company, including 100-150 at the Los Angeles ...
