Background: Bicycling, the world's largest cycling magazine, is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year. Under the direction of editor-in-chief Peter Flax, who took the helm in August 2010 after serving as the executive editor of Runner's World, the magazine recently unveiled a major redesign, starting with the June 2011 issue.

Bicycling doesn't have a direct competitor. While there are other magazines for recreational cyclists, those tend to focus on a particular subculture of cycling, like road riding, mountain biking, racing or transportation cycling. Bicycling covers all of those areas and more....
