HuffPo Scores Big While Alpha Media Struggles

It's been a big week for The Huffington Post founder Arianna Huffington. She was parodied by recent Saturday Night Live addition Michaela Watkins (surely a sign the charismatic new media entrepreneur has made it mainstream). More importantly -- in the grand scheme of things, at least -- her eponymous site received a $15 million cash infusion from investors including Oak Investment Partners. (Or maybe it didn't.) The third round of financing values the site at $110 million, lower than the $200 million figure floated this spring, but still a staggeringly large number.
