Circulation: 100,000 Background: In 1971, during the height of America's modern women's movement, Ms. was born as the first mainstream feminist publication. "It was defining feminism for a generation of women," says senior editor Michele Kort. Today, despite numerous changes in ownership, the goal and purpose of the magazine remains the same. "Ms. aims to inform, inspire and empower a world community of feminists to take action to achieve global justice and equality," explains Kort. And you can count on Ms. to feature the most progressive and forward-thinking feminist minds in an effort to continue to "put a feminist lens on politics, culture, society and global issues." "We are probably more closely related to political commentary magazines like Mother Jones, but again with a feminist eye on everything," she says. "'What does it mean for women?' is the question we ask for every story we have."... ![]() The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold.
