A new act for the Village Voice, and a spate of promotions throughout the industry

So much for the press releases insisting nothing will change at the Village Voice now that it's owned (or about to be) by the New Times chain of alt-weeklies. Editor Don Forst announced his retirement as the editor of the Voice yesterday, becoming the second seventysomething editor in a week to put himself out to pasture in favor of a part-time gig (joining Harper's Lewis Lapham). Managing editor Doug Simmons will step into the breach....
