New York City freelancers who work from home have the right to feel a little smug this afternoon, as their commute to the home office likely wasn't interrupted by the city's transit strike. We can't say the same for the armies of newspaper and TV reporters swarming to cover the chaos in the streets, or the magazine staffers who trudged in from Brooklyn to close issues before holiday vacations. The media industry's slow grinding to a halt in the week before Christmas can't come soon enough here...
