Oprah didn't just banish disgraced (can we start calling him that
now?) "memoirist" James Frey from her Book Club on her show
yesterday, she also paved the way for the lifetime employment of non-
fiction fact-checkers at all of the major houses. Her dressing down
of Doubleday/Random House executive Nan Talese for failing to vet the
book for accuracy, as opposed to just for just ("Well, that needs to
change," Oprah said icily) means future generations of freshly minted
Smith and Vassar grads can look forward to losing the next six months
of their life to going ...
