How To Pitch: The FADER
Deliver in-depth coverage of upcoming artists and genres to this hip mag
March 4, 2011|
Frequency: Six times a year Special issues: Every issue is a special issue. "Spring Style" (February/March); "Icon," which takes a look at a particular artist who's making a big impact (April/May); "Summer Music" (June/July); "Fall Style" (August/September); "Photography" (October/November); and the "Now," which bypasses the predictable year-end wrap-ups to project what's going to be hot and important in the next 365 days (December/January). Background: Launched in 1999 as the brainchild of music enthusiasts and publishers Rob Stone and Jon Cohen, cutting-edge mag The FADER prides itself in giving equal real estate to hip-hop, indie rock, folk, grime, dancehall, R&B and psych. What they don't do is regurgitate the same dried up information or boring interviews with mainstream artists that have been hashed and rehashed and hashed some more in other publications. Operating more like the Anderson Coopers of music journalism because of their determination to be first on the scene, former editorial director Peter Macia* and his team proudly continued the mag's tradition of pro-reportage, pro-cultural and socially relevant coverage. ... ![]() The How to Pitch series is worth its weight in gold. In just the first month I'd already benefited enough to consider the cost of joining well worth it. -- Gaen MurphreeAvantGuild benefits give you access to:
