Rupe Phones In Pleas To Keep WSJ Vets

What do you say when Rupert Murdoch calls, asking you to stay? Three Wall Street Journal reporters found themselves in that position when Murdoch personally beseeched them to reject offers from The New York Times and Financial Times, according to a report in last Friday's Los Angeles Times. Murdoch called Tara Parker-Pope, Kate Kelly, and Henny Sender from his yacht in the Mediterranean, telling each one that "they would be making a mistake to leave" and that "positives changes were in store." It would appear that Murdoch's entreaties have had little effect so far -- Parker-Pope left ...
