A PR Great Steps Down; Mary Berner Bolsters Her Empire

Pat Kingsley, the woman and über-publicist who probably had more to do with magazine covers in the 1990s than any single magazine editor, is stepping down as CEO of her agency, PMK/HBH. Kingsley will continue to (mostly) torture editors and deny reporters access to her personal clients, which include director Michael Mann and actresses Jodie Foster and Sally Field. It was Kingsley who first represented a critical mass of stars in her stable, arming her with enough ammunition to back up her threats of total blackballing if an editor and their celebrity wranglers were to publish anything negative ...
