Mag Ad Revenues Fall 21.2 Percent; TMZ.com Fires Its AOL Ad Sales Team
July 14, 2009Magazine advertising revenue dropped 21.2 percent in the first half of 2009, while advertising pages fell 27.9 percent, according to the Publishers Information Bureau. Each of the top 12 ad categories lost ground on the previous year. If there is a bright spot, it's that revenue fell just 22 percent in the second quarter against 29.5 percent in the first. Could that be the light at the end of the tunnel? Major television networks are also struggling, with double-digit declines in viewership compared to last year.
