Background: WCBS 101.1 FM has been popular with listeners for decades. It was one of the first in the nation to feature oldies music when it hit the air in 1972, but the station eventually became known more for its people than its playlist. The list of radio greats that went through 101.1 is a who's who of New York legends -- Cousin Brucie, Harry Harrison, Dan Ingram and Ron Lundy. That was until CBS stunned fans by flipping to a jockless "Jack" format in 2005. In the radio version of the "New Coke" fiasco, the station reverted back to deejays two years later.
