Wired's Anderson: The Magazine Should Have '30' Prices
FishBowlNY caught Anderson at Wired's Disruptive by Design conference going on in New York today. The point Anderson was making was that publications should move away from the totally free vs. totally-behind-a-paywall conversation and instead think about tailoring specific content products for specific interestsand then charging for them. "The question is: can you find a way to engage every price point out there," he said. "It's not about charging more for the same products, but releasing different products. [Those products] are not for everybody, but for enough people that we can charge a higher price." Is Wired moving in that direction? "Absolutely," he told FishBowlNYbut sadly did not provide details.
