NFL Star Vows to Tweet During Games
The combination of sports and Twitter seem to be in the news a lot these days. Earlier, we told you about how Cardinals manager Tony La Russa prematurely shot off his mouth regarding Twitter. Seems that Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco did too, though not through the federal courts. Ochocinco told a Houston radio station that he plans to tweet before, after and during games come next season in the NFL. He was clearly just talking before thinking, as is his wont, but the NFL did have a response when asked about it. NFL spokesman Greg Aiello, to PFT: "We'll have to look into that one." The league didn't have much choice in the matter when Ochocinco legally changed his name from Chad Johnson to reflect the Spanish translation of his uniform number, but proved to be a stickler when he failed to separate the words on his paperwork, forcing him to stick with the single-word hybrid. The message: don't mess with us. It's safe to assume that stance won't change with whatever else Ochocinco has in store, Twitter or otherwise. Though the NFL has yet to adopt a Twitter policy -- several teams announced their draft picks via Twitter this year before the league's formal presentation -- there's a good chance that this news will spur one by end of summer. BayNewser guesses that Senor 85 shall not be enjoying repercussion-free tweets during game action. Email This Post |
