New Jersey reporter Emma Pollin busts the door open on the cult of celebrity journalism, peers around the room, and finds precious little. Pollin, a columnist for City Belt takes cable news to task for anointing Anderson Cooper and Keith Olbermann saints of media.

"The news networks need look no further than their "corporate siblings, the movie studios, to see that the star system is dead. And they better look fast. If this keeps up Keith Olbermann could be jumping on couches and Anderson Cooper doing drunken anti-Semitic tirades in no time."

Pollin tells FBLA that a journalist doesn't necessarily lose credibility the higher his celebrity star rises, but that networks tend to help viewers (and the journalists themselves) forget that they are supposed to be reporters first, celebs second.

"I don't think it's their celebrity status that makes Cooper and
Olbermann untrustworthy. It's the fact that they don't seem up for
the job," Pollin tells us. "CNN and MSNBC are promoting them as star personalities rather than supporting them as serious journalists."
