LA Times Won't Name Names of LA County Grifting WorkersDoes the LA Times have some rule about protecting sleazy municipal employees? In a story about child welfare workers who stole gift cards meant for kids, Jack Leonard writes about one worker attempted to hide extra gift cards the department received by asking the business that supplied the cards for false invoices Another told auditors he or she no longer had any gift cards but actually had $23,000 worth of gift cards or certificates In an excursion to the House of Blues in June, employees spent $5,700 on tickets for the Gospel Sunday Brunch performance Department of Children and Family Services director Patricia S. Ploehn is said to have begun disciplinary actions against several employees. So who are these people? They're employed by Los Angeles County and paid with tax monies, so why can't readers know exactly who they are? LAT readers think disciplinary actions aren't enough--these people need to be fired, with cause, now. No severance, and if they've got pensions, they can pay back the money they stole.
