FBLA 20 Questions: GirlsTalkinSmack.com

kim.gifFBLA talks to the dishiest girls of online celebrity dish: GirlsTalkinSmack.com's Kim (pictured. kinda) and Tiff, who inform us that even though they don't get their own hands inky for the news, papers aren't dead; satellite radio isn't all that and Josh Holloway, apparently, both maxes and relaxes.

1. What newspapers do you read?

Kim: Newspapers? I honestly don't really read anything made of paper, it's SO 1999 (joking, of course). Well, I read my local newspaper (which is the Bakersfield Californian) once in a while. And I love mags like Allure, Elle, Vogue and Lucky.

Tiff: I actually read the New York Times online, and go through MSNBC's headlines, other than that, I don't read actual papers. I prefer television news and gossip blogs.

2. Which ones do you move your lips to while reading?

Kim: All of the above.

Tiff: I don't really move my lips while I read, I think I read too fast for that.

3. Which Web sites (other than FBLA, of course) are on your favorites bookmark?

Kim: Well, my laptop got wiped out a virus a few weeks ago so I'm still in the progress of getting things back to normal. I'm always reading PoponthePop.blogspot.com , TabloidWhore.blogspot.com and PopBytes.com. They're the real cream of the crop if you ask me; they stand out more as online magazines than blogs. Also fashion related sites like StyleBites.blogspot.com, Nitrolicious.com and MyFashionLife.com. Other than that I'm hanging out at IdolForums.com or TheFashionSpot.com, or working on my own sites because I have, like, a million of them, ya know?

Tiff: I always end up at Pink is the New Blog Livejournal, and MySpace every day.

4. Where do you get your car washed?

Kim: I'll let you know when my car is actually running.

Tiff: I wash it myself, when it gets washed.

5. Do you know your dentist's first name?

Kim: Actually, I don't!

Tiff: You know, I really don't. I guess that's bad.

6. Do you believe newspapers are going to die? If so, when?

Kim: No! I mean, you always need something to read on the subway or in a waiting room.

Tiff: I don't think so. I think some people will always prefer a tangible news source rather than something in the digital age. If paper becomes somewhat obsolete, then newspapers will adjust and go totally digital as well. Papers like the New York Times and the Washington Post have been around too long to disappear because of advancing technology. Besides, eliminating newspapers would cut off a significant portion of society to the world's events. If you've ever ridden a subway in New York in the morning, you see that newspapers are still a commodity.

7. What was the last book you read?

Kim: I can't remember that or anything else I did in high school.

Tiff: Being a bit of a news junkie, I'm currently reading the authorized edition of the 9/11 Commission Report. Before that, I read Dear John by Nicholas Sparks.

8. What's the last book you say you read?

Kim: Learning to Sing by Clay Aiken.

Tiff: I just say I'm reading the 9/11 Commission Report. It's more
interesting and eye-opening than a lot of people realize.

9. If you got a unicorn what would you name it?

Kim: Tiffany.

Tiff: Kim, absolutely without a doubt.

10. What does you TiVo think about you?

Kim: I wish I could answer that but I'm cheap, so I have a TiFAUX. But I know it would peg me as a reality competition freak.

Tiff: I use my computer and a TV tuner card, close enough. Basically it would say I'm a fan of reality TV (I have The Bachelor and now two seasons of American Idol saved,) and I love comedies and dramas...don't get me started on movies, I think it hates me for those.

11. Character of fiction you most resemble?

Kim: Bree from Desperate Housewives. Okay, I'm not THAT insane, but usually whatever I'm thinking, she says. It's like the writers and I have some kind of telepathic connection. Spooky....

Tiff: That's a really interesting question. The only one that really came to mind immediately was Esther in Losing Gemma by Katy Gardner. Esther deals with a lot of changes in her life and comes to understand the world through a trip she takes with her friend. I related because she learns that her perspective wasn't always accurate, and sometimes, the best thing to do is to let go.

12. Who plays you in your bio-pic?

Kim: Am I considered vain and shallow if I've thought of this before?
Gabrielle Union.

Tiff: Oh, that would be interesting. I'd say Natalie Portman or Rachael McAdams.

13. Do you floss?

Kim: Of course.

Tiff: Everyday.

14. Did you ever believe your toys come alive when you leave the room? Do you still?

Kim: After Toy Story came out I SO wanted to believe that, but I was a little bit too old at the time! I still think it'd be cool if they did.

Tiff: Wouldn't it be fun if they did? I don't think I would've ever wanted to grow up! I don't think I ever thought they did, but that would have made my toys a lot more interesting.

15. How many old cell phones do you own?

Kim: Just one.

Tiff: One, a Motorola Razor, which I love.

16. Best show legendary biz/movie star encounter.

Kim: Oh, this is going to sound really lame but I once saw Josh Holloway maxin' and relaxin' at Hollywood and Highland. It was my first celeb sighting when I moved to LA, which happened to be of someone I'm, like, OBSESSED with. To this day, every time I go to H&H I point and say, "See up there? On the balcony? That's where I saw Josh Holloway." And they follow by asking, "Who?"

Tiff: I've actually met a lot of really nice celebrities. One of my most unforgettable encounters was accidentally meeting Tom Greene at an MTV sponsored concert in 2000, it was somewhat bizarre. For me, the coolest experience was meeting Hanson, because I respect them as musicians, and I'm a longtime fan. They were really nice and laid back, and it was nice to have a chance to get to meet people that I'd followed for so long.

17. Do you get satellite radio?

Kim: No.

Tiff: No, I don't. I'm not a fan of radio of any sort really, I prefer my iPod.

18. And as a follow do you "get" satellite radio?

Kim: Eh, no. I don't even get regular radio. I mean, I'm a control freak. Thank God for iPods.

Tiff: I think radio in general is overkill. They play what they want, and they ignore some talent that truly deserves exposure. While I think satellite radio has helped that slightly, they still haven't made me want to desert my iPod for endless radio channels.

19. Do you read the Enquirer/InTouch/US/People?

Kim: Honestly I never do! I mean honestly, who waits an entire week for their celeb news when you can get it up to the minute online? Besides, I feel icky picking up the Enquirer at the newsstand.

Tiff: Sometimes, I'll grab an In Touch or US Weekly, but mostly, I rely on various celeb. gossip blogs for the news. It's much quicker, and you can learn a lot more about more people and events, and ignore what you don't want -- not so easy in a magazine.

20. Do you lie about it?

Kim: I would if I read them ;)

Tiff: No, I think anyone should be able to read whatever they want. But you know, I'd pick up a Time magazine or something too, to keep the balance.
