Antonio, My Own-io

Syndicated cranky-pants, Jill Stewart, interviews LA’s own dashing mayor-about-town, Antonio Villaraigosa, for the WSJ. Things start off nicely enough, with him showing off for her by reciting his “man of action” meme, and even fixing a few potholes, but Stewart’s too smart and tough to fall for that he-man stuff.

Stewart spent 6 years at the old New Times, and deftly skewered just about everything and everyone in the city. But there’s no hint if she’ll be back at the new New Times, as the new management seems preoccupied with the Village Voice and not the LA Weekly, according to resident cartoonist, Mr. Fish . As if he’d be the first to know. Watch this space.
