ArcLight Cinemas Celebrate Ten Glorious Years

As of last Friday, the ArcLight Cinemas chain is singing the praises of its regal, reserved seating experience. And who can blame them? Their Hollywood flagship and subsequent venues in Sherman Oaks, Pasadena and El Segundo have set a new standard for SoCal moviegoing.

Along with signage in the lobbies and screenings of classic films voted by ArcLight members, the chain is marking its 10th-year anniversary with a series of tribute trailers, screening on a random individual basis before each movie presentation. Shot by Woodland Hills agency Mission Control at a conference room at the ArcLight Hollywood, these minute-and-a-half montages showcase all manner of recognizable Hollywood names and faces.

For example, in one video, industry celebs talking about the ArcLight include writer-producer David S. Goyer (Dark City, Batman Begins), Hollywood resident Aisha Tyler and the producing tandem of Michael Shamberg and Stacey Sher (Erin Brockovich, Django Unchained). The conversation snippets were filmed in front of a black backdrop and cleverly often include the question of whether the participants are current ArcLight members.

It’s easy to forget how different the mid-city moviegoing experience was before the arrival of the ArcLight Hollywood and Pacific Theaters at The Grove. LA has come a mighty long way from the Beverly Connection and Beverly Center, top floor. The next ArcLight Cinemas is slated to open later this year in La Jolla.
