CNN Cheapens Comedy

The broads here at FBLA are funny. We are. If you doubt it – you should see us try to get out of a speeding ticket. Hysterical. The pleading. The crying on command. The lying about how many shots we’ve had. We are a riot. We can also (by most loose definitions) qualify as journalists.

But even we winced when we saw that Fox News was going to have their own comedy show last year.

Now USA Today reports that since Fox had a successful 2-minute run with a comedy show, CNN Headline News will now follow suit:

CNN Headline News isn’t the first place you’d look for comedy, but the network says it will try to have fun with some of the clips in its news archives.

Not Just Another Cable News Show will premiere April 5, the network said Monday.

“It’s an entertaining way to recall some of the more memorable moments captured on video,” said Ken Jautz, executive vice president at CNN Worldwide.

It reminds us of sexypolitics.com, in that it assumed people won’t get news unless enticed by something else – comedy or stripping.

We think it’s a horrible idea and we’re ashamed of CNN – unless they want to hire us. Then we think its a fantastic idea! And if you like recycled concepts – we have some terrific ideas for some sitcoms. Okay there are six friends that live in New York…
