Deliverance ‘Squeal Like a Pig’ Actor Bill McKinney Dies at 80

Actor Bill McKinney, who played one of the “Squeal like a pig” mountain men in Deliverance, died today in Los Angeles at the age of 80. According to a statement on his Facebook page, McKinney was “an avid smoker for 25 years of his younger life, [who] died of cancer of the esophagus. He was 80 and still strong enough to have filmed a Doritos commercial 2 weeks prior to his passing, and he continued to work on his biography with his writing partner.”

The post says the family is looking for a publisher to help put out the book in the wake of McKinney’s passing.

McKinney acted in several other films besides Deliverance, including Clint Eastwood‘s The Outlaw Josey Wales. But he always maintained a good sense of humor about his most famous part as a hillbilly rapist. His official website is called Squeallikeapig.com.

RIP.
