While Diane Sawyer has landed the interview with Andrew Speaker, the personal-injury lawyer with the case of drug-resistant tuberculosis, who’s going after his father-in-law? Robert Cooksey, PhD, a microbiologist with U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, issued a statement:

As part of my job, I am regularly tested for TB. I do not have TB, nor have I ever had TB. My son-in-law’s TB did not originate from myself or the CDC’s labs, which operate under the highest levels of biosecurity.

Some publications and studies that list him as an author or participant include:
Risk Factors for Rifampin Mono-resistant Tuberculosis

Acquired Rifamycin Resistance with Twice-Weekly Treatment of HIV-related Tuberculosis

Speaker was coming back from his honeymoon, when he was stopped by a border inspector.
