Discovery Frozen Planet Producer Talks ‘Icy Finger of Death,’ Shooting in the Arctic While Pregnant

On the Mediabistro Morning Media Menu today, we spoke to Vanessa Berlowitz, the series producer for the upcoming Discovery Channel series Frozen Planet. The series debuts Sunday, March 18 at 9 PM. In our discussion Berlowitz talks about the enormous technical challenges involved in shooting the series, as well as living in the arctic shooting–while pregnant.

“A lot of what we show you looks like magic, it is unearthly,” Berlowitz said. “People are excited by what comes out of people’s imagination, but if you can find things in the real world that look like they are from your imagination, but they are real, that is even more intoxicating.”
