Eli Broad Museum Moving Forward

Downtown Los Angeles is getting a new art museum, courtesy of local billionaire Eli Broad. The project received the green light this morning from The Grand Avenue Authority, the last governmental agency from whom a thumbs up was needed. The museum will be located at Second and Grand Avenue, near the Walt Disney Concert Hall.

The LA Weekly reports:

Insiders say Broad wanted and got an expedited approval process. Indeed, Mayor Antonio Villaraigosa put out a statement lauding Broad’s decision, saying the project will begin to create construction jobs as soon as this Fall.

Construction of the museum is expected to be completed in late 2012.
