Homeless Man With Sweet Radio Voice Lands NBA Voiceover Job

OK, this is barely even tangentially LA-related, but it’s an amazing story nonetheless. Ted Williams, a homeless man in Columbus with a studied radio voice, was a recovering drug and alcohol addict who would solicit change on the side of the road in exchange for a few words of his sweet voice. A Columbus Dispatch reporter eventually posted a YouTube clip of Williams and it soon went viral. This week, Williams drew enough web heat to begin getting job offers from all over the country. NFL Films was supposedly interested.

He eventually landed a voiceover gig with the NBA’s Cleveland Cavaliers–who are also setting him up with a house. Whowouldathunkit? A feelgood story in the Cleveland sports universe.

Get this guy chain smoking and we may just hear him doing voiceovers for action movie trailers in a few years.

One man. One Hope. One path to revenge. 17 guns.
